Support Uncanny’s Year Eleven Kickstarter, and receive a short story critique by me!
Uncanny Magazine launched their Year Eleven Kickstarter yesterday, with the goal to fund the magazine for another year and make up some of their lost revenue from a recent change to Amazon’s subscription platform. Uncanny publishes incredible SFF fiction and poetry – their author lineup for next year includes Aliette de Bodard, Mary Robinette Kowel, Scott Lynch, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Ai Jiang, and Catherynne M. Valente – and the magazine has won 7(!) Hugo Awards.
Lynne and Michael Thomas, Uncanny’s editors, do more to support and promote the authors and work they publish than just about any other short fiction editors in the field. My short fiction has appeared in Uncanny Magazine three times now (this January, in 2022, and in 2020), and Uncanny and the Thomases have done more to further my writing career than any other single entity. This is a great opportunity to give them some support in return.
Supporting Uncanny’s Kickstarter at the $200 level includes an option to receive a short story critique from me – or from a number of other wonderful authors and editors who have appeared in Uncanny’s pages. I will be taking just one story up to seven thousand words, if selected. I always spend a lot of time on my short story critiques, including line edits and comments in track changes and a single page edit letter, along with an opportunity to ask questions or for a little back and forth to clarify or go deeper. I’d love the opportunity to take a look at your work!
