I had two stories published in 2024 which are eligible for awards: “A Recipe for Hope and Honeycake,” which appeared in Issue 56 of Uncanny Magazine; and “The Girl with No Hands,” which was published in the Spring 2024 issue of Kaleidotrope.

“A Recipe for Hope and Honeycake” is a cozy story of the ways sweetness and warmth and light sustain us through difficult times, and of finding the courage to look forward in the midst of heartbreak and burnout. It features my recurring character Bramblewilde, who appeared in my previous Uncanny story of the same name, along with a wide cast of characters including a stubborn grocer’s daughter, a hive of sarcastic bees, and The God Pan. “Hope and Honeycake” is eligible for the Nebula, Hugo, Locus, and BSFA awards.

“The Girl with No Hands” uses the Grimm’s fairy tale “The Girl Without Hands,” or, “The Armless Maiden” to talk about the challenges of breaking free, finding a sense of home and safety, and becoming self-reliant after parental abuse. It is eligible for the Stoker, Nebula, Hugo, and Locus awards.
