Backer Reward Options from Uncanny’s Year 12 Kickstarter

I’m offering two backer reward options to supporters of Uncanny Magazine’s Year 12 Kickstarter!

Each year Uncanny Magazine runs a Kickstarter to help fund another year of science fiction and fantasy stories, essays, poems, and cover art. Uncanny is a seven-time winner of the Hugo Award, along with the 2024 World Fantasy Award and the 2024 Locus Award. They have published my short fiction three times now, with a fourth story of mine coming out in the current issue this August.

Each year I generally offer short story critiques as part of their Kickstarter to help support the magazine, but this is the first year I’m also offering something new!

I’m still offering a short story critique to one backer this year. I’m the best fit for fantasy and dark fantasy, and will look at stories up to 7,500 words. I generally provide both comments in Word track changes and a one-page edit letter, and will focus on developmental edits over line edits.

This year, I’m also offering a 30-minute online hangout!

This will be a one-on-one chat over Hangouts or Zoom, and would be a great option for someone new to writing or publishing SFF short fiction. I’ve been publishing fantasy short fiction for over ten years, and would be happy to talk about the basics of how to submit short fiction, red/green flags for markets, and the current state of the market, or even help you workshop where to send a piece.

If you would rather spend that time discussing the ups and downs of writing, talking about how to query a SFF novel, work-shopping a piece, or just chatting about favorite writers, stories, or markets, those are all options too!
