The contract has been signed, and I’m super excited to announce that I have a new story forthcoming in The Deadlands, a new pro magazine edited by Catherine Tobler.
“What Remains to Wake” is my retelling of an early version of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale, featuring some mild body horror and my many complicated thoughts and fears about motherhood.
I’d been searching for a home for this story for awhile, and this is my first story sale since the beginning of the pandemic. Catherine Tobler bought my first ever story many years ago for now-defunct Shimmer Magazine – so it seems several stars have aligned with this one!
The story is set to appear in The Deadland’s September issue.
