My story “The Witches’ Parliament” was published in February’s Issue 5 of Underland Arcana. Underland Arcana publishes speculative fiction with a focus on the Tarot, and it seemed a perfect fit for this story that features the Tarot pretty heavily!
“The Witches’ Parliament” opens with a quote from Benjamin Disraeli: “England is governed not by logic but by Parliament.” When Disraeli’s actions bring him in conflict with a parliament of feminist witches bent on protecting their interest in Queen Victoria, he learns just how true that quote is. This story was a lot of fun to write, with plenty of wordplay and literary allusions – a fitting tribute (I hope) for the novelist and rhetorician Disraeli.
