Today, Uncanny Magazine launched their Kickstarter for Year 9, including their special 50th issue.
Uncanny is a speculative fiction magazine run by Lynne and Michael Thomas, who put an incredible amount of hard work and passion into their promotion of the magazine and its contributors. My World Fantasy Award-nominated story “The Nine Scents of Sorrow” was published in Uncanny, and I have another story, “Bramblewilde” in their current issue. Lynne and Michael have been wonderfully supportive and encouraging of my writing career and that of many others.
Uncanny’s Year 9 Kickstarter supports all its issues for Year 9, including “stunning cover art, passionate science fiction and fantasy fiction and poetry, gorgeous prose, and provocative nonfiction by writers from every conceivable background.” Solicited contributors for Year 9 include Aliette de Bodard, P. Djeli Clark, Ken Liu, Catherynne M. Valente, Elizabeth Bear, Neil Gaiman, and Theodora Goss.
If you pledge $200 or more to support Uncanny’s Kickstarter, you can choose the reward option to have a short story manuscript critique by me! I’ll critique anything up to 7,000 words, though I’m more comfortable with fantasy over science fiction, and short stories over flash.
I’d love to read your story!
